Skateboard GB

Communications Officer

£32,000/yr

Manage SBGB’s social media and digital platforms, driving growth, engagement, and creative content. Monitor analytics, schedule posts, engage with users, and coordinate freelancers. Update website and MySkate app, ensuring consistent brand voice across channels and tailored content for diverse audiences.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Effective management of all Skateboard GB social media platforms
  2. Ensure growth in followers and enhance engagement on SBGB social media channels
  3. Regular monitoring of social media analytics to recognise best direction for growth
  4. Brainstorm creative ideas for digital output
  5. Create engaging copy for social media output
  6. Post content across all Skateboard GB social media channels
  7. Manage the social media calendar and scheduling for social media channels
  8. Engage with users on all Skateboard GB channels and respond to enquiries
  9. Understand different audience groups and creation of profiles for these groups
  10. Create briefs / brief creative freelancers / manage freelancers
  11. Update the Skateboard GB website with relevant content.
  12. Development and regular updating of the MySkate app
  13. Shape and protect the Skateboard GB “voice” so that content feels consistent and authentic across all channels
  14. Work with the wider sport system (e.g. UK Sport, BOA, Sport England)
  15. Support on other tasks as required by the business and in consideration of your skills, knowledge, and experience..

 

Key relationships / interfaces

  • Good knowledge of UK (and international) skateboarding stakeholders
  • Understanding of key sport agencies in UK
  • Relationships with skateboarders and skate organisations
  • Engagement Lead (line manager)
  • Digital Content Officer (co-worker)

 

Person Specification

Required skills, experience and knowledge

  1. Minimum of 2 years’ experience working in a communications or social media
    role
  2. Experience managing multiple social media platforms for a brand, company or
    person(s)
  3. Effective content planning and execution of social media content
  4. A strong and well-rounded understanding of all social media functions
  5. Analytical experience for all social media platforms and Google Analytics
  6. An eye for detail for ensuring the output is high quality
  7. Experience in creative writing and production
  8. Knowledge and understanding of marketing
  9. Ability to create briefs and have some knowledge about design
  10. Experience in creating paid social media campaigns
  11. Ability to creatively brainstorm and plan
  12. Working with multiple departments and people
  13. Experience of skateboarding or in a skateboarding environment
  14. Up to date with current social media trends
  15. Self-management of time to ensure that effective output is achieved

A full driving licence is preferable for this post.

Essential Information

Duration
Full-time, permanent position

Remuneration
Up to £32,000 pro-rata / Workplace pension contribution / 25 days holiday per year plus statutory days.

Hours of Work
37.5 hours per week. Flexibility is required to work evenings and weekends.

Base
Working from Home, with national travel.

Requirements
Full clean UK driving licence and own vehicle (a mileage allowance will be paid)
