
Social Content Executive (Brand and Community)
Railway lovers and savvy social media professionals, listen up! This is your opportunity to be advocate-in-chief for Britain’s biggest train operator. Your mission is to be the guardian of our online, digital and social media community. Think of yourself as the president of our fan club, or an insider who is bringing to life the story of GTR in a fun, friendly and fearless way. From Bedford to Brighton, Kings Lynn to Southampton, and across the capital, you’ll explain to our audiences how our work impacts them in a fresh, compelling and confident way.
Working across our 4 brands Thameslink, Southern, Great Northern and Gatwick Express, you’ll create perception-changing content for Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, YouTube, LinkedIn and Twitter (X) to boost positive sentiment, grow organic (owned and earned) reach and support commercial initiatives. This could be everything from a colleague-ambassador recruitment campaign, through to bringing to life the work we are doing with CSR partners such as Mind, and wider marketing partnerships. You’ll develop content which doesn’t just go behind-the-scenes, but ignites discussion, challenges clichés and offers reasons to believe we’re creating great journeys every day for a sustainable future. You will need to balance community management with proactive content and campaigns, and have a keen eye on reporting.
There will be plenty of development opportunities. You’ll get to grips with the railway, with full behind-the-scenes access across Britain’s biggest train operator. You’ll get the opportunity to perfect your social media and digital content skills working closely with the other members of the content team, and our leading creative, media and design agency partners. You will have wide exposure internally, working with a range of commercial, comms and front-line teams.
Frequent rail travel is expected in this role, and you will need to be confident appearing on camera, conducting interviews, and working with a range of stakeholders and partner organisations. You must also have a sixth sense for reputation management including crisis communications, stakeholder management, newsjacking opportunities and audience development.
