Seeking Channel Manager for 6 month contract with possible extension

 

Are you passionate about content? Do you get excited about social media? Do you thrive in a dynamic environment where creativity meets strategy? Totem is seeking a motivated Channel/Social Media Manager to run one of our exciting entertainment channels!

Totem is a digital-first media company pioneering new content models to create global category leaders on social media. Originally launched in 2012 to help YouTube expand across APAC, we now lead strategy projects for top media companies, VCs, creators and platforms (like TikTok, Snapchat and YouTube) worldwide.

 

In 2022, we shifted from consulting to building owned and operated channels on social media. Within a year, we turned Bondi Rescue into the No.1 factual entertainment brand in the world, Sticky Lollies into the No.1 food and drink brand in the world (on Facebook), and Black As into the No.1 First Nations creator brand in Australia.

 

Over the last 12 months Totem created 4,000+ videos and generated 12B+ views. With 35+ staff across 12 countries we rank among the world’s top 25 fastest-growing digital media companies on social media.

 

The Role

As a Social Media Manager, your mission will be to grow the social media audience of one of Totem’s iconic entertainment brands. You will:

 

  • develop and execute content strategies
  • manage social media communities
  • provide insights and reporting on channel goals

You will be part of a driven, cross-functional team of social media managers, strategists, and video editors who are experts at organically scaling the audiences of Entertainment and/or Creator brands. The ideal candidate has a few years of experience across YouTube and Facebook, with some experience on Snapchat or TikTok.

 

A Day in the Life

 

  • Build communities of superfans around your channels
  • Make clickable thumbnails and titles and write compelling copy to drive people to discover and watch your content
  • Design, manage, implement and optimise the content plan for your channels
  • Analyse your channels, contribute insights and make recommendations on how to do things better
  • Collaborate with and oversee your team of video editors to create awesome content
  • Keep your finger on the pulse of new social media trends, platforms and products

What we’re looking for

  • 2-3 years of experience in social video and managing social media channels in a professional setting (YouTube, Facebook)
  • Proven track record in growing social audiences
  • Strong writing skills and attention to detail to write compelling titles and captions
  • Design knowledge to brief in eye catching and clickable thumbnails
  • Strong project and time management skills and ability to manage multiple priorities at once
  • High level of professionalism when dealing with colleagues and clients
  • Experience working with social analytics and using insights to drive your decisions
  • Highly organised, accountable, proactive, and solution-oriented
  • Previous work experience on revenue generating social media pages would be a bonus!
