Social Video Producer & Editor

$70,000 - $80,000/hr

The Role: Social Producer / Editor

Forbes is seeking Social Producers/Editors with proven experience creating original, platform-specific content for social channels including Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube Shorts.

To be considered, applicants must include a link to their portfolio with examples of social-first video work.

This position requires five days per week in-office in Jersey City or on-site at events.


Responsibilities

  • Create, edit, and finalize highly engaging social-first content at scale, with a primary focus on short-form video across platforms including Instagram, Facebook, Threads, TikTok, X, LinkedIn, YouTube Shorts, and Bluesky.

  • Produce platform-native content involving scripting, shooting, editing, ideation, posting or staging, and writing compelling, platform-appropriate copy.

  • Perform sound mixing and color correction on all owned edits, per the specifications of the Creative Director of Video.

  • Deliver rough cuts and final assets on deadline, incorporating feedback from project stakeholders.

  • Maintain journalistic integrity and Forbes brand standards across all content.

  • Uphold quality, style, and aesthetic standards as directed by the Creative Director of Video.

  • Follow all media management standards as directed by the Head of Video.

  • Work closely with the video team to create platform-optimized social content adapted from or produced alongside traditional Forbes video.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional team members including Creative Directors, Senior Producers, Producers, Directors, Editors, Motion Designers, and Animators.


Programming Areas

Content production may span the following areas:

  • Editorial (including sponsored editorial content)

  • Events and Summits

  • BrandVoice and Paid Programs

  • Third-Party Partnerships

  • Streaming, TV & Film

  • Internal content


Strategic & Editorial Support

  • Actively participate in pre-production and on-set workflows tied to Forbes franchise lists, covers, and major editorial moments.

  • Create content aligned with programming needs defined by the Director of Social Strategy and Programming and the Social Strategy team.

  • Execute high-level social strategy across Meta platforms, TikTok, X, and Bluesky.

  • Provide social media support for internal campaigns and initiatives, ensuring cohesive messaging and timely delivery.


The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate:

  • Is a subject-matter expert across Meta platforms (Instagram, Facebook, Threads), TikTok, X, LinkedIn, and Bluesky, with a strong understanding of algorithms, emerging features, and best practices.

  • Actively tracks trending sounds, memes, challenges, and formats, and can quickly ideate and execute relevant content.

  • Has 2+ years of video editing experience in digital publishing, production, agency, or brand environments.

  • Is highly skilled and fast-working in Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects, with working knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator, Canva, and Figma (Jitter experience is a plus).

  • Possesses strong voiceover, scripting, and story-editing skills.

  • Is a strategic multitasker who can prioritize effectively across projects.

  • Demonstrates strong editorial judgment with an understanding of news, politics, business, and pop culture.

  • Communicates clearly with cross-functional stakeholders on creative and technical needs.

  • Can execute a clear creative vision while remaining flexible and collaborative.

  • Is open to feedback and comfortable working toward consensus in a team environment.


Compensation

The annual base salary range for this role is $70,000–$80,000.

This range has been estimated in good faith and may vary based on experience, education, skills, and internal pay structures. Forbes reserves the right to revise compensation estimates and job descriptions as needed.


Location & Eligibility

This role is open only to candidates residing in the following U.S. locations:

California, Colorado, Connecticut, District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, and Washington.

Due to business and compliance requirements, applicants outside these states cannot be considered.
